What's behind the turmoil in Haiti?

Currently we, Haitian, should be ashamed of the situation in Haiti. Lawlessness, poverty, lack of basic services, high unemployment, endemic corruption to name a few. But who or what is the root cause of these issues?

I don't believe it's the international community or a nefarious pact with the devil at bois cayman. Then why can't we function normally and create an environment that's safe for everyone to live and prosper?

Name of the "powerful families" and "various powerful politicians" keep popping up as the main fermentors of the chaos we're seeing today. And there is some truth to that. Who is financing the purchase of weapons and ammunition for the gangs? Why isn't the government doing anything to eviscerate those gangs of Grand Ravine, Martissant etc. Why is the economy in a free fall and no one seems to care? Why healthcare is none existent? Why is unemployment so high especially among young adults? and the questions go on ad infinitum.

Laborers of the world

One hundred thousand Haitians living in Chile, countless living in the Dominican Republic, Brazil and all over the world. Every place else but Haiti is the motto for Haitians living in Haiti, specially among young adults. Haitians are busy building the world; is that the reason for the turmoil?

A stable and prosperous Haiti is synonymous to A) the Diaspora coming home to retire, using their wealth and brain capital at home, less tax revenue abroad B) Less migration abroad, scarcity of cheap Haitian labor C) More tourists visiting the country, taking revenue from the Dominican tourism industry D) Agricultural development, less food importation from the U.S. and the Dominican Republic E) Decrease in the nearly four billion USD remittance, thirty percent of Haiti's GDP, a blow to the government and the "economically powerful families," they depend on that money, as Reginald Boulos puts it in an interview "it's the IV that keeps Haiti alive" F) Development of a true free market system, currently a handful of wealthy business families with custom fee waivers control the movement of goods and services in Haiti G) Less corruption, everyone lives off of corruption in Haiti, it's a way of life there H) development of a real middle class, currently you have the "handful of wealthy" and the rest. Ironically the model for Haiti's turn around is Chile.

A look at Chile tell us why it should be our turn around model as follows:

Low corruption, conducive business environment, vibrant economy,

[Copied from Wikipedia] :

" The modern sovereign state of Chile is among South America's most economically and socially stable and prosperous nations, with a high-income economy and high living standards.[11][12] It leads Latin American nations in rankings of human development, competitiveness, income per capita, globalization, state of peace, economic freedom, and low perception of corruption.[13] It also ranks high regionally in sustainability of the state, and democratic development.[14] Chile is a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), joining in 2010. Currently it also has the lowest homicide rate in the Americas after Canada. Chile is a founding member of the United Nations, the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the Pacific Alliance "

Will Haitians worldwide eventually rise and really say "Enough with the nonsense" and once more fight to claim their independence from the tentacles of tyranny.

I encourage everyone reading to comment. LJOSR
