The Trusted Adviser

On November 29th I published the lost mitigation turnaround. I talked about the two prong strategy to avoid foreclosure. One leg was the application for modification. Well, an hour ago today, the debtor's bank just notified me that the application has been approved and all actions discontinued. Talking about a Christmas present but most importantly God's Glory. My clients were 19 months in arrears. Dilligent professional work and patience = Success.

On another important note, a long time client recently tasked me with the possibility for him to petition for his adult nephew after the death of his sister. Discussed the matter with my Haiti team, namely the attorney in my network, and he came up with a plan that sounded OK but I was sketical. That plan called for a Court Order reducing the young adult's age, and subsequent adoption.

Hmmm, upon eyeballing the I-130, the US immigration petition for alien relative, I realized that should my client execute on the proposed plan, he could be facing jail time. My fee would have been hefty for such an endeavor; however, I advised my client against it after explaining the implications. Thus, the trusted adviser, always looking out for my clients.
