tience: It takes time to understand the environment and the people in country, due diligence is important. The Right Local Team: Haitians are adept at knowing and understanding their market, but one need to vet potential partners and\or employees carefully. Effective Training: Haiti's school system is totally ineffective at all level, therefore be prepared for a steep learning curve and myth debunking. Accountability: Even in fully developed societies accountability is lacking, in Haiti it's non-existent, a foreign language for most, the entrepreneur must inculcate that in local teams through education, reporting, and supervision. Assertiveness: Do not accept excuses from your team ,enforce the company rules every step of the way, and be prepared to discipline; otherwise you will blow your investment. Trust: Once you reach a level of comfort, trust your local team and allow them to function with limited supervision; while constantly evaluating performance and coaching. Capital: Ohhh baby you need lots of it, because you're building both a human and physical infrastructure, if you want to operate within international norms.
